SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING

DESIGNED FOR PWA, MOBILE WEB & iOS MOBILE

Social Media Monitoring was developed with the primary goal of safeguarding our customers' online privacy and fostering a safer digital environment by preventing and reporting incidents of cyberbullying and harassment, ensuring the well-being of the entire family.

INTRODUCTION

In recent years, online identity theft has surged, posing a significant and evolving threat to individuals and their personal information. Your personal information, posts, photos, and messages are valuable assets. Protecting your privacy on social media platforms ensures that this data remains under your control and is not exploited or misused by individuals with criminal intent.

In response to the rapidly growing online threats, Social Media Monitoring was designed to alert customers of information breaches and to mitigate cyberbullying.

WHAT USERS ARE SAYING

“There’s a fake account pretending to be someone I know.“

“My child is experiencing bullying online.”

“How do I monitor my child without invading their privacy?”

In an era where sharing personal information and experiences online has become second nature, the risks associated with information leaks on social media platforms have grown significantly. It's essential to comprehend these risks to safeguard your privacy and security effectively.

Posting information. such as your full name, birthdate, and location, can provide cybercriminals with valuable data to impersonate you. They may use this information to open fraudulent accounts, commit financial fraud, or engage in other criminal activities.

Oversharing on social media can inadvertently reveal sensitive details about your life, such as your home address, vacation plans, or daily routines. This information can be exploited by criminals for harassment or theft.

Cybercriminals often use the information you share on social media to craft convincing phishing messages. They can personalize these messages with details about your life to trick you into revealing even more sensitive data, like passwords or financial information.

Cyberbullying has also emerged as a significant and escalating concern, with perpetrators using social media platforms to send repetitive, hurtful threats, along with sharing offensive images and videos related to the victim.

IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM

I actively collaborated with stakeholders to understand their objectives, target audience, and constraints. These interactions yielded valuable insights that informed the project's direction. Additionally, I conducted a thorough review of multiple online articles addressing online identity theft and cyberbullying prevention strategies.

RESEARCH

Through my research, I discovered that users are increasingly recognizing the need for robust protection for their social media accounts, and this desire is driven by several compelling reasons.

FINDING SOLUTIONS

Many users between the ages of 19 and 30 have faced situations where individuals appeared at their residential address due to information they shared regarding the duration of their vacation. Utilizing Social Media Monitoring can identify when users share excessive personal information on their social media accounts. Subsequently, it sends a notification to the user, prompting them to reconsider or remove the post.

USERS 19-30 YEARS OLD

Children between the ages of 11 and 16 are increasingly vulnerable to cyberbullying. This form of harassment, which occurs through digital platforms, presents unique challenges and concerns for adolescents and their parents, educators, and society. Children are often more technologically savvy than adults, making them both perpetrators and victims of cyberbullying. They may also find ways to hide their online activities from adults. Social Media monitoring allows parents to monitor

their child's social media accounts through word detection. When inappropriate content, such as violent language, videos, images, or sexual behavior, is posted on or from a social media account, the primary account holder will receive a notification displaying the content and identifying the source of the post.

USERS 11-16 YEARS OLD

Users in this age range are increasingly finding themselves in the unfortunate situation of having their social media accounts hacked. This demographic, often less familiar with the intricacies of digital security, faces unique challenges and consequences when dealing with account breaches. Users in this age group may be more likely to click on suspicious links or accept friend requests from unknown accounts. Social Media Monitoring offers users alert notifications whenever it detects a suspicious link or friend request, along with providing helpful tips to educate the user.

USERS 45-65 YEARS OLD

When users choose and log into their accounts, Social Media Monitoring can identify inappropriate language, photos, videos, harassment, and phishing attempts. Should Social Media Monitoring detect anything inappropriate, users will receive an alert containing instructions on how to address the situation.

At present, there are four social media platforms available for users to choose from, with more options on the way for future inclusion. Once users make their selection, they will be prompted to log in to their chosen social media account. Upon successful login, they will be redirected back to Aura and notified that their account has been synchronized. Once the setup is complete, Social Media Monitoring will keep users informed of any inappropriate content associated with their accounts. Users also have the flexibility to register multiple accounts on the same platform.
