AMAZON WEB SERVICES
AWS Brand Guide
I developed a comprehensive brand guide for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) SMGS Ops team, aimed at fostering cohesion and understanding of the brand across more than 2,000 teams. Recognizing the need for a unified identity within such a vast organization, I focused on creating clear guidelines that encapsulated the core values, messaging, and visual elements of the AWS brand.
The brand guide includes essential components such as logo usage, color palettes, typography, and imagery, ensuring that all teams can consistently represent the AWS brand in their communications and projects. I incorporated examples of best practices and common pitfalls, providing practical insights to help teams effectively apply the guidelines in their day-to-day operations.
Additionally, I emphasized the importance of brand storytelling, offering guidance on how to convey the AWS mission and values through various formats. This approach not only enhanced brand consistency but also empowered teams to understand the significance of their contributions to the broader AWS vision.
By creating this brand guide, I aimed to strengthen the sense of belonging among the SMGS Ops team and streamline collaboration across departments, ultimately enhancing the overall impact of the AWS brand within the organization.
ID&E Social Campaign
I had the honor of designing a social campaign for Amazon Web Services centered on the theme "Black is Remarkable." This campaign was more than just a series of posts; it was a powerful celebration of identity, strength, and culture. I engaged with colleagues to gather insights on what "Black is Remarkable" meant to them personally. Through interviews and discussions, I discovered a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives, from overcoming challenges to embracing cultural heritage. These narratives inspired the design elements and messaging of the campaign.
The visual identity of the campaign featured bold colors and dynamic graphics, symbolizing strength and unity. Each piece of content spotlighted an employee's story, showcasing their achievements and the unique qualities that make them remarkable.
The response from the Amazon community was profound. Many employees expressed how the campaign instilled a sense of pride and belonging, prompting them to share their own experiences and support one another. The campaign created a safe space for dialogue about race and identity, reinforcing the idea that every individual’s story is valuable.
I designed an infographic that visually summarized findings from a recent SMGS Ops survey focused on the effectiveness of our internal communication team. The goal was to provide a clear and engaging representation of key insights regarding messaging clarity, top communication initiatives, organizational interests, recognition efforts, and the comparison between the wiki and wisdom platforms.
To begin, I analyzed the survey data, identifying trends and important metrics that highlighted how well the communication team was delivering messages and engaging with employees. The infographic features distinct sections, each dedicated to a specific area of focus:
Messaging Effectiveness: This section showcases employee feedback on the clarity and relevance of internal communications, using eye-catching charts to illustrate satisfaction levels.
Top Communication Initiatives: I highlighted the most popular initiatives, using icons and graphics to represent each initiative visually, making it easy for readers to grasp which efforts resonated most with the team.
Organizational Interests: This area highlights the topics and themes that employees are most interested in, presented in a visually appealing way that encourages further exploration.
Recognition Efforts: I included metrics on how well the organization recognizes and celebrates achievements, reinforcing the importance of acknowledgment in fostering a positive work culture.
Wiki vs. Wisdom Platform: This comparison illustrates employee preferences and usage patterns for the two platforms, helping to inform future communication strategies.
The overall design is colorful and engaging, ensuring that the information is not only accessible but also enjoyable to read. By utilizing clear visuals and concise text, I aimed to create a resource that could easily be shared across teams, fostering greater awareness and discussion about internal communication practices.
This infographic serves as both a tool for reflection and a guide for future improvements, empowering the SMGS Ops team to enhance communication strategies and better connect with employees.
